Why don't Jews believe Jesus is the Messiah? Is Judaism a false religion because of this?

Keep in mind these are not my views. I'm not Jewish! Here are 7 reasons they don't believe in Jesus (there may be more reasons):

1. Jesus did not fullfill the messianic prophecies.

2. Jesus did not embody the personal qualifications of the Messiah.

3. Bibical verses referring to Jesus are mistranslations.

4. They don't believe in the Second Coming.

5. They don't believe in the Holy Trinty.

6. Christianity contradicts Jewish theology.

7. Jews don't want gentiles in their religion.

8. Jewish belief is based on national revelation.

Under the ideals of theology, Judaism is considered a false religion. Some Jews do believe Jesus is the Messiah. NOW, if the antichrist comes and fullfills what the Jews consider to be the qualifications of the Messiah, would the Jews embrace the antichrist? Tough question! Why don't Jews believe Jesus is the Messiah? Is Judaism a false religion because of this?
Jesus didn't fulfill the messianic prophesies the way the Jews wanted the Messiah to...they wanted a vengeful retribution (OT style), not a ';man of peace and love';.Why don't Jews believe Jesus is the Messiah? Is Judaism a false religion because of this?
Jesus has to be the messiah because even the book of Daniel predidcted it (daniel 9:24-27)

There Daniel was told explicitly that Messiah would come 69 ';sabbaths'; (that is, 69 sabbatical years - a total of 483 years) after the decree was given to rebuild Jerusalem, which at that time lay in ruins after Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had destroyed it.

Let me preface this by saying I am not Jewish but I have friends who are and have lived in several Jewish neighborhoods as a child. For many Jews part of the identity of being a Jew is to not be a Christian. For some Jews Christianity is a heresy. One of my friends holds to this belief which makes for some interesting conversation. If there are any Jews who come to answer and disagree with this I apologize and please help me to clarify where I am wrong. You can do this by e-mail if you wish. Dear bandycats using the Jesus seminar as a referral source isn't such a good idea. These are the people who took a vote on which things Jesus said They eliminated anything that sounded Jewish or Christian. They determined that of the Lord's prayer He definitely said Our father'; They are not a good source to get information.
There is no longer any standard for Judaism existing in the world today.

All 8 of your points are based only on Jewish stereotypes.

Traditional Judaism, if and wherever, or whenever it truly exists, is an incompletely true religion, that has not yet embraced the whole truth, relating specifically to Jesus Christ.

Whether it ever will remains an open question to which only God has the answer.
God has never picked a true religion. The religions have and they always pick themselves (what did you expect?). The faiths are now putting people through the ';true religion hysteria';. It's really religion competition in disguise. Don't let them fool you. The true religion must be named by God, not by a religion.
Read Matthew chapter 23. This should give you some insight.

Also, Matthew 13:10-15
1) Absolutely- he has done any of the things I list below

2) Absolutely- see the points I have listed below

3) Yep- we have a very good knoweldge of biblical hebrew, as well as the knowledge of the plain meaning vs the alluded to meaning vs the legal meanig of the word- something that the gtranslators of the Tanach lacked.

4) Correct- nowhere is there any hint of a second coming anywhere in the torah- even those who want to claim that there are two messiahs in Judaism cannot get round the fact thatunder that understanding one is mashiach ben Yosef (son of Joseph) and thus could not have been Jesus anyway- and the mashiach ben yosef is the IMMEDIATE herald for th mashiach ben David- there will be days, or at best weeks between the two- not millenia!

5) Absolutely not- we are monothesist and stick to the Torah, proclaiming three times a day 'HEAR O ISRAEL, GOS IS YOUR GOD, GOD IS ONE!'

6) Massive contradictions- from the nature of the afterlife, from how God punishes us (Judaism has a loving God that would not punish for eternity, Christianity has a vindictive God that inflicts eternal punishment!), to the understanding of the eternal nature of both the written and oral Torah

7) Rubbish- anybody con convert to Judaism.

8) Yep- we don;t believe in private revelation- the Torah was given to the entire nation- someone cannot come, perform miracles and try to change it- in fact the Torah, In Deuteronomy explicitly states that fact!

Here is why we don't believe that Jesus was the messiah in simple terms:

1) The dead were not resurrected

2) The Jews did not beome priests to the other nations

3) There is no world peace

4) The temple is not standing

5) There is no temple service

6) There is no parah adumah or its ashes to render us tahor

7) The messiah is from the House of David. your house/tribe is inherited from your father. Your father is your BIOLOGICAL father- there is no adoption in Judaisim to another father- if God is the father of Jesus- then Jesus cannot be from the House of David as God is not frm the House of David.

8) Human sacrifice is completely forbidden in Judaism- remeber God stopping the sacrifice of Isaac? The idea of a human being sacrificed is the opposite of anything from Judaism!

9) You have to atone for yourself! An essential part of the atonement process is being repentant. Someone cannot be repentant for you- you have to do it for yourself. ONly communal sins can be forgiven communally- not individual, private sins!

And no- the messiah does NOT proclaim himself- he will be recognised by his deeds- not by his claims- in other words, through doing the above he will be recognised as the messiah. On top of that- mashiach is a HUMAN being, with HUMAN parents- the idea of an anthropomorphised God going around and impregnating young woman is completely alien to Judaism- though it fits very nicely into the pagan religions of the time which had their heroes being fathered by gods (ala Hercules and his daddy Zeus)

As for Messianic Judaism, Jews for Jesus, Hebrew Christians etc, these are deemed as nothing more than Christian sects using deceitful means to convert Jews. EVERY Jewish denomination denounces these sects as Christians and nothing more. However, by Jewish law, once a Jew, always Jew- whether born or converted. Thus once a person is Jewish they are always judged by Jewish standards, and if they revert/convert to a different religion they are still considered Jewish by Jewish law. BUT, someone practising a religion other than Judaism is considered outside of the community, may not be a member of the community, receive any community honours, be a representative for the community, be buried in a Jewish cemetary, marry a Jew or be treated as a Jew for the purposes of the laws of mourning. However, since they never stop being a Jew- they merely have to repent, return to Judaism and go to mikveh in order to once again be a full member of the community.
Why does this matter to you?
There are NO Jews who believe Jesus was the messiah. To Jews, the belief that God would become human is the ultimate heresy!

In order for Christianity to be *true* Judaism cannot be false! Jews do not need Christianity to explain their existence or their origin,

but Christians cannot explain their existence without Judaism.

.
In the Old Testament it talks about Jesus 1st coming and also his second coming, and the Jews misinterpreted it and when he came for his first coming being born of the Virgin Mary, they didn't believe it was him, because they were believing he would make a big impressive entrance into the world instead of the humble way he came into the earth. They were expecting it with fanfare.
Your question isn't so much tough as stupid. The ';Antichrist'; is, by definition, a Christian concept. Also, if this ';antichrist'; of yours fulfilled the qualifications of the Messiah, under what system of logic would he be an ';antichrist'; to Christians, much less Jews? Also, points 1 and 2 are redundant, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are inevitable if Jews don't believe in the Christian messiah, 7 is stupid beyond belief (Judaism allows conversions, but once you convert you're no longer a gentile--so no, there's no such thing as a Gentile Jew), and I have no idea what 8 is supposed to mean.

Also, L'Chaim is correct, anyone who believes Jesus is the Messiah cannot by definition be Jewish. Therefore, it is impossible that ';some Jews believe that Jesus is the Messiah.'; Those people are Christians, not Jews.
Well.....If your going to get technical every religion but your religion is a false religion because there can only be one true religion and nobody who is in thier given religion is in the wrong one .....ect.
Jesus does not fit the description of the Messiah in the Tanakah, that's why
1) Yes he did

2) Expectations for the Messiah differed.

3) No they aren't, I have translated them myself and they are not wrong.

4) I haven't studied that matter in depth yet

5) I don't believe in the Trinity either

6) No it doesn't.

7) Christianity was founded by Jews.

8) ..... Yes because they were not guided by the Holy Spirit. They can be if they seek it.
Under which ideals do you consider Judaism a false religion? It existed long before the two religions which borrowed heavily from it: Christianity and Islam.

We do not believe in the trinity, as it is a pagan concept.

We do not believe in a second coming, since our messiah will only have to show up once.

Our beliefs are based on the revelation at Mount Sinai, in which 600,000 Jews were present, which validates our religion.

We do not believe J*sus is the messiah; true.

Who says we do not want ';gentiles';??? Although we do not seek converts, we welcome them with open arms!!!! And Judaism does make provisions for non Jews who do not wish to convert:

And finally.... When our messiah comes, he will fulfill the following textual requirements:

* The Sanhedrin will be re-established (Isaiah 1:26)

* Once he is King, leaders of other nations will look to him for guidance. (Isaiah 2:4)

* The whole world will worship the One God of Israel (Isaiah 2:17)

* He will be descended from King David (Isaiah 11:1) via King Solomon (1 Chron. 22:8-10)

* The Moshiach will be a man of this world, an observant Jew with ';fear of God'; (Isaiah 11:2)

* Evil and tyranny will not be able to stand before his leadership (Isaiah 11:4)

* Knowledge of God will fill the world (Isaiah 11:9)

* He will include and attract people from all cultures and nations (Isaiah 11:10)

* All Israelites will be returned to their homeland (Isaiah 11:12)

* Death will be swallowed up forever (Isaiah 25:8)

* There will be no more hunger or illness, and death will cease (Isaiah 25:8)

* All of the dead will rise again (Isaiah 26:19)

* The Jewish people will experience eternal joy and gladness (Isaiah 51:11)

* He will be a messenger of peace (Isaiah 52:7)

* Nations will end up recognizing the wrongs they did to Israel (Isaiah 52:13-53:5)

* The peoples of the world will turn to the Jews for spiritual guidance (Zechariah 8:23)

* The ruined cities of Israel will be restored (Ezekiel 16:55)

* Weapons of war will be destroyed (Ezekiel 39:9)

* The Temple will be rebuilt (Ezekiel 40) resuming many of the suspended mitzvot

* He will then perfect the entire world to serve God together (Zephaniah 3:9)

* Jews will know the Torah without Study (Jeremiah 31:33)

* He will give you all the desires of your heart (Psalms 37:4)

* He will take the barren land and make it abundant and fruitful (Isaiah 51:3, Amos 9:13-15, Ezekiel 36:29-30, Isaiah 11:6-9)
Read about the Jesus Seminar, who searched for the real words of Jesus. They concluded Jesus never claimed he was God or the son of God. Other people made that up about him. Very interesting.

Jewish people study their religion and religious origins and texts a lot more than Christians do theirs. After all, the OT IS describing a Jewish deity, and Jesus WAS a Jew.
And YES all those things you listed about Judaism make it a false religion.
