If the Jews killed Jesus then doesn't that make him a false messiah?

In Deuteronomy 13 it gives the guidelines of what makes one a prophet. It then goes on to state how a false prophet should be handled by the Jewish community.

In Acts 10:39, it blames the death of Jesus on the Jews

';And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hung on a tree'; (Acts 10:39)

If the Jews killed Jesus then that makes him a false prophet basically because he failed the guidelines of being a prophet based on Deuteronomy 13. The Jews would have not had a reason to kill Jesus if this was the case. Which means the pharisees were correct about Jesus.

So is Jesus a false prophet if the Jewish people killed him?If the Jews killed Jesus then doesn't that make him a false messiah?
Jesus is a false messiah because he didn't fulfill the messianic prophecies.

Fulfilling the messianic prophecies is the only way to know someone is the Jewish messiah. If he didn't do it... he wasn't it. That's all the reason anyone needs.

-- and I mean the actual prophecies, not the ones Christians mistake as prophecies about virin births and ressurections. These are not part of the Jewish messianic prophecies. If the Jews killed Jesus then doesn't that make him a false messiah?
The jews killed just about all of the prophets God sent them throughout history. Jesus' death was prophesied by Daniel:

Da 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

Jesus fulfilled over 600 prophecies about the Messiah.
When Jesus was alive nobody really liked him. He had ideas that most people disliked. It wasn't till after he was dead that people made a story about him being the son of god, and his followers did a great p.r. job, and then people started liking him. So yeah, when they killed him he was considered a false prophet, and was hated.
Very interesting question...This is why christian scholars are at pain to try and convince everyone regarding the ressurection. You made the point very clear from your reference, but they try and argue that he rose again therefore he wasnt killed.

So, effectively, if the ressurection is disproved then christianity is also disproved.
Yes according to the Jews and those who follow the OT but not to the Christians who ignore that and wrote their own book NT about how he was the messiah.

It just depends on what you give credit to more. The book that came first or the new book that justified Jesus and made the Jews look bad?
Isaiah 53:1, 3 – “Who has believed our message? To whom will the Lord reveal His saving power? He was despised and rejected – a man of sorrows, acquainted with bitterest grief. We turned our backs on Him and looked the other way when He went by. He was despised, and we did not care.”

- The Messianic prophecy of Isaiah 53 foretells of Jesus' rejection by his own people. The fact that it did happen doesn't discredit Him. In fact, it is yet more proof that He was the Messiah.
Jesus came to die for the sins of man knowing the Jews would kill him. Prophecy fulfilled.

Jesus wasn't killed because they believed him to be a false prophet. He was killed because they didn't believe he was who he said he was, the son of God.
From what I understand, he failed to fulfill many aspects of the ';prophecy.';

Which is only a problem if you are unable to re-write the prophecy in later revisions of the book.
Deuteronomy 13 talks about how to evaluate a prophet....it does not prophecy of the Messiah.....Isaiah 53 foretells of the Messiah....

Isaiah 53:3 ';He is despised and rejected by men...';
Just because the jews had a hand in Jesus being killed, doesn't make him a false prophet, jews are human just like the rest of us, they are not (';the deciders'; LOL) on who should be what.
the priests at the time of Jesus death were crooks who paid to be priests and report negative activities to Rome !!! It was Herod's temple

financd by Rome !!! The priests were murderers !!! John the Baptist father was a Levite priest and was MURDERED IN THE TEMPLE !!! And the family went to live with the Essenes [my theory] and that is probably where John was raised !!!

when you figure out the difference between messiah and prophet, come back again

he was a rabbi, a jew

showing a real ugly side here

hideous really
NO....NO....NO...

pontious pilate also made that wicked decision..
No

It just means that they didn't accept Him for who He was.

This act by Jews was also a fulfillment of prophecy.

your friend
1) yes he was a false prophet/messiah

2) the Jews did not kill him, the Romans did.
Exactly
nope because his death was for told long before his death
BOO YEAH!
When you consider Isaiah 53, and the prophecies in Daniel, that the Messiah would die for us, the fact that the Jewish leadership had Jesus executed by Roman means, only proves that Jesus is who He claimed to be - especially since he was resurrected after wards.

Think about this for a moment: If Jesus had NOT been raised from the dead, then what happened to the body? (i.e., ';Who Moved The Stone?';)

Did the disciples move the body just to perpetrate a fraud? Why would Peter allow himself to be crucified UPSIDE DOWN when he could simply have avoided the entire thing by just recanting. And yet Peter was SO convinced that Jesus was resurrected, that He was willing to face persecution and even a horrible and painful death, than to deny what he considered to be true. And there have been MANY martyrs both before as well as since. Read ';Fox's Book of Martyrs'; or go to ';The Voice Of The Martyrs'; web site for additional examples.

So, if the disciples didn't remove the body, and of course the Romans wouldn't have, then did the Jewish leaders? If they did, they could have squelched this entire movement just by producing the body! And yet, they didn't!

So, what happened to the body that early Sunday morning, three days after the crucifixion?

Jesus prophesied that He would be crucified, and that He would rise again, and He did. So how is THAT being a false prophet?

You have some serious questions you need to face and respond to! There WILL be a test on this material, so be prepared!
