i have been told, how is this possible?
share your thoughtsIs it true that there are a couple of similarities between Jesus and many other ancient (and false) messiahs?
All mythology shares motifs; it would be naive to expect any less of Christian mythology. Joseph Campbell's ';Occidental Mythology'; draws some examples of comparable hero myths and motifs, such as the virgin birth.Is it true that there are a couple of similarities between Jesus and many other ancient (and false) messiahs?
You mean Zeitgeist? Instead of being told about it, why don't you just watch it on either Google or YouTube? I think the reason for the similarities is because God is always one and the same and so when He descends, as he has millions of time and will forever, he is the same and teaches the same thing. He has to keep coming down every 700 to 1000 years because it's not so much His words that is forgotten but humanity goes off the boards by committing unnatural actions that stops evolution. The memories of sin, being unnatural acts of greed, envy, hatred, ect., is impossible to erase and hangs up evolution. God has to come down to erase all the ';sins'; to get evolution going again.
not too sure about the past, but when the antichrist (false Christ)appears at some point in the future, he will have many similarities to Jesus. He will deceive the entire world, according to how the Bible describes him.
I would be more concerned with that coming deception than those who were deceived at some point in the past. You may get your chance to see this person in your own lifetime.
First of all, there are no records after the destruction of the Temple to verify a Messiah. But if you look at the big contenders you will see NO RESEMBLANCE whatsoever. Start with Rabbi Akiva, then Shabattai Zevi, and then the old Lubavitcher Rebbe.
When the Chief Rabbi of Rome converted to Catholicism mot long ago, he noted this.

';while in the synagogue for the feast of Yom Kippur, Zolli received a vision in which Christ spoke to him saying, ';You are here for the last time: from now on you will follow Me.'; For Israel Zolli there would be no going back. Relaxing at home that evening he was at first reluctant to mention what had happened but when he did his wife admitted that she to had seen the same vision of Christ standing next to him. Miriam, their eighteen-year-old daughter then told her parents that she had recently seen Jesus in a dream. Zolli saw it all as confirmation of what he should do and immediately resigned from the synagogue';
Say what you will, I can't just ignore stuff like that.
Yes and some of the stories predate the bible, it just shows that the authors of the bible took the stories from other cultures and fashioned their own religion with them.
I'll give an example, Dec. 25th is the supposed birthday of Jesus, the son of God. It just so happens to be the birthday of a Roman emperor, born before Jesus, who declared that day 'the birthday of the unconquered Sun.'; That sounds familiar to the idea of a son...of a god..being born.
Yes, there are some similarities. I believe there are parallels drawn between Christ and Horus, Mithra, and even Prometheus.
There are definitely some but many of the most commonly reported failed to check out when I looked at the source material.
Similarities - no, but you knew that already didnt you?
No, only to someone too naive and simple to do any superficial independant research.
do you have any examples?
